Thanksgiving Quiet Time

The other day when I was arranging my Thanksgiving decorations I just took a minute to reflect on some of our families Thanksgiving traditions. There are certain decorations that have been around for years and years. My daughter Robbin painted the Pilgrim Man, Woman and Turkey. She was living in Germany for many years and couldn't always come home for holidays so her decorations meant so much to us.

During the Gulf Wars we would often times have a family member deployed in the War, we would always set a place for them at the table with a flag in their plate. Thank God we will have no empty plates this year, but my heart goes out to all the families who will...God Bless You.

When everyone is finally gathered around the table we each put a dried corn kernel in a Thanksgiving Bowl and tell everyone what we are grateful for this year. When everyone has had a turn to talk then we all hold hands and offer our Thanksgiving prayer to God.

One of my favorite scriptures at Thanksgiving is "Enter into His gates with Thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, be thankful to Him and bless His name." Psalms 100:4

One of the things that I am grateful for are the moments that I get to spend with each of you every week. I want to wish each of you a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving.
Peace and Joy

  1. Interesting how you have written this as I learned to paint to find some way to be closer to you Mom. We modified this family tradition at a recent "Gathering of Friends"...each person shared a special part of what they were thankful for and then toasted the glass of the person next to them and said "Bless you"...family is what you make of it and sometimes it is with people you are related too. I am grateful for an amazing Mother that I call friend, I enjoy coffee over the phone almost every day and these moments I treasure. I am thrilled that she has decided to share so much of the special lady she is with all of you as well. May the streaming lights of grace never leave your side. Blessings and Hope to you all.
