Quiet Time: For Japan

My White Wisteria is in bloom, it is a very old plant with very delicate blooms. The beautiful aroma of it's scent fills the garden. I am reminded of so many times in life when a flower or tree blooming at a certain time of year will touch our memory of times gone by. Sometimes it is a special occasion like a wedding, birthday, anniversary, graduation or the death of someone we loved.

Today as I sit here in the stillness of my garden looking at the beautiful Wisteria Blooms I am reminded of the people of Japan. I think that every spring when the Wisteria blooms I will be reminded of the great loss of their people. The stillness of their once busy villages, the laughter, the history all gone and left with just the faint memories of smells and pictures in the mind of time gone by.  When I look at the Wisteria I will see a million tears for the people of Japan and a million little prayers for a strong nation that will survive.

Would you join me in a moment of silence for Japan and its people.

"We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren , as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged and the love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater; therefore, we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure." 2 Thessalonians 1:3-4

  1. Miz Helen, Thanks for your touching remembrance/tribute. Your white wisteria is gorgeous. I've never seen a white one before, only blue, and I have never had the courage to try growing one as I've heard it's difficult to get them to flower. Thanks again.
    Blessings, Beth

  5. Thank you so much! My heart goes out to them daily as I pray for them. They are such a resilient group and need so much right now, even though one would hardly know. They are not "demanding" help nor blaming.

The wisteria is just gorgeous! I honestly have not seen white. My neighbor across the street has the most incredible purple blooming right now and oh my, the fragrance. Such a joy to walk by daily.

Have a wonderful week my friend!

  6. Beautiful post! Of course I will join you for the moment of silence.

I mentioned the people of Japan on my blog Menagerie and MM's Missions this weekend after
walking into a flooded newly remodeled kitchen.

We have to keep perspective on what's really important. I might have a big expense and a lot of inconvenience but such small stuff in the grand scheme of things.
