Orange Doodles

When my kids were in school I loved having a batch of cookies sitting on the cooling rack when they came home from school. We would all sit down together and have a treat while discussing their day, it was a very special time. Still to this day when they come home one of the first places they look is to the antique butcher block to see what is cooling on the rack. Today we have Orange Doodles on the rack and a batch in the oven, some have already disappeared from the cooling rack.

Makes 5 Dozen Cookies
Ingredients
For The Cookie
1/2 cup real butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
10 drops Orange Young Living Essential Oil
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tarter
1 teaspoon soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Orange Zest
For The Topping
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
5 drops Orange Young living Essential Oil
Directions
Cream the butter, shortening, and sugar. When the butter, shortening and sugar are creamed add 5 drops of the Orange Oil and mix well.
In a small bowl whip the eggs and add 5 drops of the Orange Oil and whip together.
Slowly beat in the eggs to the butter mixture and mix well.
Mix the flour, cream of tarter, soda, salt and Orange Zest. Mix well, then gradually add to the butter mixture. Just mix well and don't over mix or the cookie will be tough.
For the topping, in a medium bowl mix together the sugar, cinnamon and 5 drops Orange Oil. Mix very well until the oil is completely distributed with the sugar.
With a teaspoon dipper, dip one dipper full and roll it in your palm, then drop it into the sugar, cinnamon and oil mixture, covering the roll all over.
For the cookie sheet, do not grease or oil the cookie sheet.
Place the cookie roll on a cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees from 8 to 10 minutes.
Let cool on a cooling rack and watch them vanish.
Enjoy!
