Sour Dill Pickles

We have had a great canning season this year. Our cucumbers came on early so it allowed us to make pickles before the heat of the summer set in. This pickle recipe is a combination of a sour and dill pickle, and have been developed through my years of canning. We are a pickle loving family so we love the different flavors that can come from a simple jar of pickles.

Mustard Seed Pickle Recipe

This Mustard Seed Pickle Recipe has been in our family for several generations now. Some people call this recipe Bread and Butter Pickles, but my family has always called them Mustard Seed Pickles. They are a little on the sweet side and delicious with sandwiches or as a compliment to most any kind of meat. On the day we made these pickles we were preparing for a Pickle Canning Class that we had been asked to present for one of the church groups in our community. My daughter and husband were great helpers on pickle making day!

Pickled Beets

Some of my fondest memories of summer are spending time with my Grandparents on their farm. My Grandmother canned and preserved the fruits and vegetables that they grew on the farm. One of my Grandmothers favorite was her Pickled Beets, she loved her beets and would have them on her plate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although I don't eat them as much as my Grandmother, I do love my beets and there is nothing like fresh canned Pickled Beets. I rarely open a home canned jar of Pickled Beets that I don't remember my Grandmother in her kitchen making the wonderful food and memories of summer. Summer Pickles

It is so good to see you again. Did you see my cucumber vines on the fence? Come on in and lets have a glass of ice cold peach tea. We did an experiment with some of our cucumber vines this year. We planted them next to the fence so they could vine up on the fence. They have done so well, that next year I plan on planting all of the cucumbers along the fence line. Not only has it given a great cover for the fence, we have had better production of the cucumbers. One of my favorite summertime pickles recipes is "The Pickle Pot". There is still time for you to start your Pickle Pot and enjoy it through the holidays. Go to the link below and get the recipe.
