Our Outdoor Adventures in Germany
My family. and I feel so lucky to have gotten the opportunity to live in Europe for a few years. However, it has been sad not being able to get out and travel yet. It has given us the chance to see all the things Germany has to offer in the great outdoors, and it does not disappoint! The picture above is from a trip to the tulip fields that we just took today. It was an easy pit stop on the way back from visiting a friend. It is one of many amazing natural beauties here.
This was a small family-owned tulip farm in western Germany. People are welcome to walk through the fields and enjoy the amazing colors for free, but they also have a small farm stand where you can purchase some to bring home.
I have been fortunate enough to meet some friends who also enjoy hiking. We have been taking advantage of the nice weather and the kids being in school. We try to hike about once a week. These pictures are from a trip to Dahn. It has amazing rock formations and about ten million trails to choose from.
These are just some of the trails in the area!
This arch is at the top of a peak in Donnersburg. When the sun is rising it comes up in the arch. We plan on getting up early and visiting again sometime. The arch was originally placed their in 1880!
The kids came along for this hike through the "enchanted forest". It is a short trail but it is packed full of amazing wood carvings. The kids enjoyed finding them hidden in the trees.
We decided to go on a family hike around our village one afternoon. We scored on an awesome village that is surrounded by hilly forests.
This was a hike I went on with a friend. The crazy climb up to Bergstein was worth the view, but I am pretty sure my legs are still sore months later. We saw some ruins on the way as well.
These are from my favorite area so far, Hunsruck-Hockwald Nature Park. It is a beautiful national park with amazing trails, diverse plant life, and tons of streams all around. I have already been twice and am looking forward to going back soon!
I hope you enjoyed getting to explore a little bit of Germany with me! I also hope it inspires you to get outside in the area around you. It is really the best way I have found so far to reconnect with what is important.
Sending good vibes your way!

What beautiful hikes! We often too and just love finding new places to explore. There is a tulip farm nearby that we have visited once but it's amazing to see how far those flowers extend into the distance!
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed my hike with you, Lauren! What a beautiful area you showed us. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos! I'd love to see and visit a flower farm like this someday!

After reading this I have a big case of Wunderlust!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful country. So glad you were able to finally get out and enjoy the area. Thanks for sharing it. #HomeMattersParty
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Lauren's post and I am so glad you shared it, Miz Helen! The photos are gorgeous and it's so nice to get a glimpse into her life in Germany. It has also inspired me as we will be having to stay in country for quite a while - and it's made me realise that although I will miss travel abroad, there's a lot to see here too. (And I'm adding further exploration of Germany to my travel list for when life is more normal.) Thank you for all your support of Hearth and Soul, I’m featuring this post at the party this week. Take care and have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the feature! I am glad it inspired you to explore! Thankfully it looks like things are starting to open up just in time for the nicer weather!
