Slow Cooker Old Fashioned Ham and Beans

Our Slow Cooker Old Fashioned Ham and Beans bring back so many memories of Grandmothers table. If you stayed long enough with my Grandmother you would find that at least one if not two days a week some kind of beans would be on the menu. This ham and beans recipe is the same that she would serve at her home. The only difference is the Slow Cooker, which she did not have. She simmered her beans on a wood stove that cooked all day, and you could smell them all over the house.

Slow Cooker Southern Black Eyed Peas and Rice

When I was shelling the black eyed peas for this recipe the other day, I remember learning how to shell peas with my Grandmother, Mother and Aunts. We would all sit in a circle on the porch with a "mess of peas" on a clean tea-towel with a bowl for the peas and the hulls went into another bag. The peas would be washed and used in a canning process for use during the winter months and the hulls would be composted to be turned into fertilizer, not a thing was wasted. The extra peas for the day would be prepared for "dinner" (mid-day meal) or"supper" evening meal. One of the benefits of the pea shelling circle was the fellowship that everyone enjoyed while shelling the peas. I remember the stories that would be told and the laughter and sometimes even tears. I treasure those memories and reflect sometimes that families might just be better in some ways if we could all just sit for a bit and shell peas together.

Slow Cooker Confetti Potatoes

Our Slow Cooker Confetti Potatoes will  be a great side dish for any occasion and so easy to put together. This potato dish has great flavor from a combination of seasons and vegetables. We are adding some special cheese and little bacon bits to top it all off.  These Confetti Potatoes will be a great hit at any covered dish gathering. Our crew here at the cottage just loves this recipe and I am hoping that all of you will enjoy this pure comfort recipe.

Slow Cooker Green Beans, Potatoes and Sausage

When we have fresh green beans and potatoes in the garden I can't resist making this flavorful Slow Cooker meal for my family. If my vegetables are not ready to hit the Slow Cooker, then I can always pick up the ingredients at my local farmers market. When you walk in the front door in the evening the aroma of this dish announces a great dinner ahead. This is a full meal and all you will have to add is a nice salad and dessert for a delicious meal.
