Whats For Dinner Next Week 6-16-13

We are very busy here at the cottage this week, we have been in the middle of vegetable harvest.  We have been canning green beans and tomatoes and making salsa. It sure smells good in this kitchen. Best Crock Pot Pulled Pork

We just love Pulled Pork and it really is one of the easiest meats to prepare for a crowd of people or little batches for the freezer.  This is a great Pulled Pork recipe and is very moist which is one of the reasons we just loved it.  We have served this Pulled Pork for large parties and just pulled a small frozen serving from the freezer and had a nice Pulled Pork Sandwich, this is an all around great recipe. Best Crock Pot Pulled Pork Best Crock Pot Pulled Pork Miz Helen's Kitchen Ingredients 1 2 lb Pork Tenderloin or Pork Loin 1 12 oz can or bottle of Root Beer 1 18 oz bottle of your favorite BBQ Sauce Directions Place the Pork in a slow cooker and pour the Root Beer over the meat Cover and cook on low until well cooked and the pork shreds easily 6 to 7 hours. I have had so much fun this past week, my Granddaughter Nikki has been here for a visit.  We have cooked and been in the garden and just had a lovely visit and I will be sad to see her leave, but she has to get back to work.  I sure am glad that you could stop by today, did you notice that the Magnolia's were blooming, they are just beautiful and the aroma is just wonderful. Grilled Herb Pork Chops

I am so happy that grilling season is here and we can be outdoors and enjoying our outdoor kitchen.  I had been to the garden early in the morning and got a big basket of collard greens and decided to grill some butterfly pork chops to go with the collards. These chops were just delicious and we will be having this recipe over and over. Grilled Herb Pork Chops Grilled Herb Pork Chops Miz Helen's Kitchen Ingredients 4 thick cut butterfly pork chops The Rub 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon oregano 1/2 teaspoon thyme dash cayenne pepper The Basting Sauce 1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard 2 tablespoons water 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon onion powder 1/4 teaspoon oregano 1/4 teaspoon thyme dash cayenne pepper Directions Mix all the dry rub ingredients and set aside Mix all the basting sauce ingredients and set aside Wash and dry the pork chops ...

From Garden to Table Collard Greens

We grow Collard Greens the year round here, but the spring Collards are the most tender and the best. I remember picking Collards with my Grandmother when I was a child, the leaves seemed so big. We would take them to the well and pump cold well water over the Collards and wash each leaf.  I always remember how cold that well water was when we were washing the Collards.  I also remember how good those Collard Greens tasted when they came out of the big pot on the wood burning stove, they still taste the same. From Garden To Table Coll ard Greens Collard Greens Miz Helen's Kitchen Ingredients 16 cups Collard Greens washed, sliced 3/4 to 1 inch thick, stems removed 3 slices bacon, chopped 1 medium onion, medium chop 2 cups chicken stock 1 cup water salt and pepper to taste Directions Preheat oven to 325 degrees Remove the stems from the collard greens  Soak the Collards for 10 minutes in ice cold water then wash the leaves Cut the Collar...
