Happy September! Meal planning is important this week, because of the Labor Day weekend and celebrations. It will be the last big weekend at the lake so it will  be very busy here at the cottage. Fresh fruits and vegetables are still available in our gardens and local farmers market, so we have a few more weeks of enjoyment. We will be planning some old favorites for the week as well as some new ones. It will be a fun week! Welcome September What a week we had here in Texas. Many thanks to all of you for your continued thoughts and prayers as we begin recovery in our great state. We have been busy helping where we could with different recovery efforts, which makes me even more grateful for my meal plans. I have been making some comfort food for my husband as he recovers from his eye surgeries.

We are in the middle of the Memorial Day Weekend here at the cottage with lots of activities around our lake area. It is always a big weekend for the beginning of the boating and swimming season with lots of friends and family coming out to begin the summer. I love planning the picnic food for the weekend some of my favorite foods of the summer. Welcome to September and the Labor Day Weekend.We have a traditional picnic on Labor Day, it is the last long weekend to enjoy great weather here at the lake. We will have lots of wonderful food for the picnic and great friends and family to visit with us. This is a great month to transition into warm and cozy fall food. Lets get started on this meal plan I think we have a lot of cooking to do.

Happy Independence Day There is lots of excitement here at the cottage, our community will be having the annual 4th of July parade this Saturday, it is always so much fun. Along with the parade we have a bake sale with so many great foods from all the bakers in our area. We will be having some family and friends to help us celebrate this weekend and stay over for part of the week. I have been working on my meal plans so that we can really enjoy our special time. It is a very festive and enjoyable time to celebrate freedom and to be grateful for it!

It is a big weekend here at the cottage with the opening weekend for the lake and friends and family coming out to enjoy the festivities of the weekend. I like to do as much planning and cooking ahead as possible, so I have more time to enjoy my guest. We are planning on being outside as much as possible. We are pausing for a quiet time to remember all those families who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Labor Day Weekend at the lake is always the sign of things winding down from a summer of playing on the water, cookouts and picnics to nesting for the winter, civic clubs, harvest festivals and of course our Texas Football! We always have a great finish to the summer with a big cook out for family and friends and we can't wait to see some of them this weekend. We are planning a fun day of food and fellowship for our Labor Day Cookout.

Coming to you today from Rain Soaked Texas with not a dry day in sight, yes folks it is still raining. We are having the 10th wettest season in the last 117 years, since they started recording the weather.  We are making our picnic plans for the weekend and hoping to be under the canopy and if it gets to wet we will bring it inside. This is usually a big weekend here at the lake with the opening of the pools and the fishing docks. We are expecting house guest this weekend and looking forward to planning the food for all the events. Most of our Meal Plan for this week can be an outdoor or indoor meal.
