The Garden Gate: Spring Blooms

For everyone in North and East Texas that are gardening with us this year we will be planting on Saturday.  A list of plants is at the bottom of this post. The yard and garden are coming alive with color. I just love the spring with all the beautiful colors that awaken our senses after a long gray winter. Japanese Red Leaf Maple We have a pair of these beautiful trees that we put out last year. We were a little concerned that they would make it through the horrible heat we had in August and then the extra cold winter we had, but here they are showing their beautiful color. Collard Greens Blooming These Collard's are a year old. We put them out early last spring, they made it through the heat and the cold and now they are blooming. I wanted to share the blooms with you before I trimmed them down. I am hoping they will make it another year. Blooming Collard Greens White Wisteria The White Wisteria is in full bloom and is just beautiful. The aroma fills the entire garden. Ea...

This is a wonderful Bread recipe that was passed down to me by my Aunt Faye, who called it Our Daily Bread. She made the recipe at least once a week and sometimes twice she was a wonderful cook. I still miss her sometimes, but I have fond memories when I make the bread. This bread is a great family bread that is delicious, light with a crusty crust. I can't eat just one slice! Our Daily Bread Warm The Milk and Butter   Proof The Yeast Mix The Flour With The Liquid Stand On The Stool So You Are Tall Enough  To Knead The Dough Knead The Dough Let The Dough Rise Double In Size Let The Dough Rise  A Second Time In The Loaf Pan Let It Cool Before Slicing Enjoy!
