Strawberry Breakfast Bake

We love to have a nice brunch or a really late breakfast here at the cottage, especially on weekends. If the weather is nice we like to have our brunch or breakfast out on the screen porch. We have enjoyed some beautiful strawberries from the strawberry patch this year and I thought these would sure make a great brunch dish and so they have. This is a fantastic recipe that we will enjoy over and over.

Ingredients
8 cups croissants, day old and cut in pieces
2 cups baked smoked ham, diced small
2 cups fresh strawberries, quartered
1 1/2 cups whole milk
3/4 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
Butter for the baking dish
Directions
Butter a 8X11 baking dish.
Place the croissant pieces into the baking dish.
Place the diced smoked ham on top of the croissant pieces, pushing some under the bread.
In a mixing pitcher, whip together the milk, heavy cream, white and brown sugar, vanilla, salt and eggs. Whip until the mix is smooth and the sugars are dissolved.
Very Slowly pour the liquid mix over the ham and bread.
Place in the refrigerator for 45 minutes.
Set it out of the refrigerator and bring the temperature up for 15 minutes.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and do not turn the oven off.
Place the fresh quartered strawberries on top of the bread and ham, pushing some of the berries down in the bread mixture.
Place the dish back into the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
Remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack. Allow to cool and set for at least 15 to 20 minutes before serving.
Enjoy!
