Blackberry Ice Cream Dessert

Our Blackberry bushes are giving us a great harvest this year so we enjoy using them in different recipes. I enjoyed developing this recipe for Blackberry Ice Cream Dessert and it is absolutely delicious. It has layers of cake and layers of ice cream with a special swirl of blackberries. This dessert is very special and can be served for an informal occasion or a formal dinner. This is truly a garden to dessert recipe!

Slow Cooker Southern Pulled Bar-B-Que Chicken

This is truly a great southern recipe that can slow cook all day and be ready for a great meal in the evening. We are taking the pulled chicken today and making very special sandwiches and topping them with some extra Bar-B-Que sauce and some of  Grandmothers Chow Chow , with some of the cooked onions on the side. No other sides will be necessary with this recipe, it is a full meal and delicious!

Whats For Dinner Next Week,6-28-20

It is unusually quiet here at the cottage this week. It is the week of the 4 th  of July and this year is very different, that the other years have been. Our community usually has a parade and our ladies club has a bake sale with a little farm stand for fresh fruits and canned goods. None of that is happening and there won’t be any large gatherings because we are still social distancing because of the Virus. This year will be very quiet, we do have a very small number of family who live close by that will be coming to enjoy the lake and stopping in to enjoy a meal with us so we are sure looking forward to that. We will be having a few fire-works and a small celebration right in our own backyard.

Spicy Brat Dogs

This recipe for Spicy Brat Dogs has everything you need for a great flavor. These Brats are girlled then put into a bath of heavenly spices and cooked slow to  perfection. Then we take them out and put them on a wonderful bed of cole slaw sitting on a bun. For a picnic, cook out, or a special family dinner this is a great recipe to try. We just love these Spicy Brat Dogs here at the cottage, they are a real winner!

Whats For Dinner Next Week,6-21-20

It is going to be a great Fathers Day Weekend here at the cottage. The weather is beautiful and we are planning some great food for my precious husband who is a great Dad, Husband, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, we are so blessed to be able to celebrate him and all the other Great Dad's out there! I am really glad that I am a meal planner when it comes to holidays, we have lots more time to really enjoy the day because the meal plan allows us to have the meals organized and some of the dishes cooked ahead of time. I am headed to the garden to see what is available for the week, it doesn't get any better than from garden to table!

Banana Cake With Espresso Frosting

Our Banana Cake with Espresso Frosting is a very special cake and makes a fabulous dessert for any occasion. I really could just have a small bowl of the frosing and call it dessert, that frosting is amazing, nice and creamy with a hint of espresso, for a coffee lover it is a little bit of heaven. The Banana cake has a perfect blend of spice and is a great cake for the frosting. There is a little banana and a little nut in just about every bite. This is a very rich cake and has really been a hit here at the cottage and serveral covered dish events.

Slow Cooker Peach Barbecue Chicken

Our Slow Cooker Peach Barbecue Chicken is so delicious and easy to prepare. Our family loves a great peach recipe and this is one of our favorite peach recipes. This is a very simple recipe and one that you can walk away from, come back later and it is ready to serve. If you are serving 2 or 20 this will be a great recipe to have on hand for a real winner on the table.

Whats For Dinner Next Week,6-14-20

Hello everyone, come join me I am sitting on the screen porch sipping sweet tea, working on the meal plan for next week. It is a beautiful time of the year to plan fresh foods to come to the table. I have been out in the garden earlier to check out the fresh foods that will be ready to work with this week and I still have a well stock freezer so I don't think I will have to go to the market this week. I always stop off at the farm stand to check on the newest arrivals, I drive by on my way to church so just have to stop by. My husband just walked through and ask Whats For Dinner Next Week?

Folks are enjoying the harvest from Victory gardens more and more. Be sure and bring some of your canned goods to share with everyone, we have a canning and preserved feature that will be here for the season. Thursday is a bright spot in my week and I always look forward to seeing what you will share with us for the party.

Squash Salad With Basil Vinaigrette

It is always fun this time of the year to go out to the garden and come in to the kitchen and create a new recipe. Today I had a few squash, tomatoes and peppers. I always have herbs on hand so we can create some very tasty vinaigrette. When I finally got it into the salad bowl it was just delicious and a salad that we will just love. I took it to a ladies covered dish luncheon and all the ladies loved the salad, so to all you ladies that wanted the recipe it is here today!

Grilled Jalapeno Pork Chops

I was at the market doing my weekly shopping when I saw these awesome pork chops and they just called out to me, so they ended up coming home with me. I had just harvested some jalapeno's from my garden so why not put all that together. These pork chops are marinated with a jalapeno marinate and the grilled with some onions and more jalapeno's. This is a delicious recipe for these pork chops, and it is a great grilling recipe!

Whats For Dinner Next Week, 6-7-20

Hello everyone, I was in the garden late last evening and got a basket full of Roma tomatoes, so I will sure be looking at making some homemade salsa this week. You can look for that canning recipe on this post. It is so much fun to make a meal plan and use the harvest from the garden. I love a great salad during this time of the year and we love to use the grill and outdoor kitchen as much as we can. It is just a fun time of the year to enjoy some really great food on our meal plans.

Full Plate Thursday,487

Welcome to Full Plate Thursday and our first party of June! We are having the party today out by the garden, it is so pretty right now with lots of fresh vegetables for our recipes. I just love all the fresh vegetables to cook with this time of the year and we are beginning to plan for our canning and preserving for the season.

Southern Chicken Gravy & Dill Biscuits

Our Southern Chicken Gravy and Biscuits recipe is truly straight from Grandma's kitchen. This skillet is full of pure southern comfort and we very rarely have any left overs. The recipe has chicken, vegetables and is smothered in a creamy chicken gravy. This recipe is a great way to use some left over chicken and vegetables and takes very little time to make. A great dish for a family dinner any time of the year. I am so glad you are here to enjoy it with me!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

All of my favorite flavors all rolled into one cookie and it is so good! This cookie is crisp just the way I like them with a chocolate or peanut butter morsel in every bite plus a little touch of walnuts, it really doesn't get much better than this for a cookie. I am having one of these awesome cookies with a cup of coffee while I am working on this post and it is a great recipe that I am so happy to share with you!
