I love a great slow cooker meal that can be put in the cooker in the morning and you can smell it slowly cooking all day. I love it when the family comes home and says it smells amazing in here what's for dinner? Our slow cooker cider pork chops with cabbage, onion and apples is filled with flavor from the mix of the cider, chops, cabbage, onions, and apples with some special herbs, We have had great reviews on this recipe and when we have served it folks always want seconds. It is a real winner here at the cottage, enjoy!

How To Make Slow Cooker Cider Pork Chops With
Cabbage, Onions and Apples
We will start with seasoned pork chops seared off in a heavy skillet. Then remove to a holding platter.

Place the seared pork chops on the top of the cabbage mixture. Pour the remainder of the liquid around the edge of the ingredients.
Place the lid on the cooker and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
To make the sauce, pour the liquid into a sauce pan,
adding butter and corn starch.

Next place the pork chops on top of the cabbage mix.

Slow Cooker Cider Pork Chops With Cabbage, Onions and Apples
A blend of cider flavored pork with special herbs, cabbage, onions, and apples. A flavorful one pot meal.
Ingredients
- 4 pork loin chops
- 2 teaspoon salt, divided
- 2 teaspoon pepper, divided
- 6 tablespoons cider vinegar, divided
- 2 large onions, diced
- 5 cups cabbage, large dice
- 3 gala apples, do not peel, large dice
- 1 cup apple juice
- 1 cup water
- 4 whole cloves
- 2 teaspoon thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 cups sugar
The Sauce
- 1-1/2 tablespoons corn starch
- 3/4 cup water
Instructions
- Salt and pepper the pork chops, place the pork chops into a heavy, hot skillet and sear the pork chops on one side. Turn the chops and sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the cider vinegar on top of the chops. Remove the seared chops from the skillet to a holding platter and set aside.
- In the same skillet saute the onions until just turning brown. Add the cabbage and season with salt and pepper. Add 1/2 cup water and cook for about 3 minutes.
- In the same skillet add the apples to the mix and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Place the cabbage, onions, and apples into the slow cooker then add the seared chops on top.
- In a mixing pitcher, whisk together the remainder of the cider vinegar, water, apple juice, cloves, bay leaf, sugar and thyme.
- Pour the liquid mix around the edge of the ingredients in the slow cooker. Place the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
- For the sauce: Pour the liquid from the slow cooker into a medium saucepan. Bring the liquid to a medium high heat. Add the cornstarch and water slurry to the liquid and cook stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Serve on the side.
