Full Plate Thursday 7-30-15

Where The Greatest Cooks On The Planet Gather I am so excited to welcome you to the last Full Plate Thursday for July 2015. This is always a very exciting week for Full Plate Thursday because the last week of the month we always feature your top ten page view picks from last week. We have so many great cooks that share with this party sometimes the numbers are very close, but for this week these are your Top Ten Picks! Lets get the party started and find out who they are.

Spicy Honey Lime Chicken

The flavor of honey and lime is a favorite here at the cottage. This Spicy Honey Lime Chicken is a gentle blend of spices and finishes with a great glaze of honey and lime. This recipe can be grilled, baked or cooked in a skillet, for this presentation today we are grilling. Our Granddaughter Lauren and Great Granddaughter Ella June Bug have been here for Grandma's Summer Camp, June Bug is the rub mixer and Lauren is the Grill Master for the recipe today. We just love this dish and sure hope you will enjoy it as much as we have. We are serving our Honey Lime Chicken with this awesome Texas Peach Salsa.

Texas Peach Salsa

We are so fortunate to live a short driving distance to some of the best peaches in Texas. We get so excited when the peaches are ready, the season is not that long so we have to enjoy every day of the season. One of the dishes that we love is our Texas Peach Salsa, a salsa that can be used as a dip, as a side dish for any meal or as a garnish for a very special grilled meat or vegetable. Our Granddaughter Stephanie has been here for Grandma's Summer Camp and this salsa was one of our project dishes that she was able to help us with. We love this salsa and sure hope you enjoy it!

Whats For Dinner Next Week 7-26-15

What a great week we had last week, lots of fun times around my birthday, my friends surprised me with a day trip to a fantastic new shopping market in a near by city. We had so much fun and I am so excited about finding a new market place, without having to drive so far into the metro. The garden vegetables abound and I am using lots of fresh vegetables in my menu this week, plus we will be in the outdoor kitchen grilling. What is your favorite vegetable to cook with this time of the year, and are you doing any canning? I love hearing from my readers, so leave me a comment or send me an email.

Where The Greatest Cooks On The Planet Gather All of you share so many delicious dishes every week here for our party, I always look forward to party time to see what you are bringing  to share with us. We have been busy visiting with family for the last week, its that time of the summer when everyone is trying to get in one last visit to the country before school starts, which looks like is just around the corner for some of you.  Let's get this party started, I am hungry!

Buttermilk Ice Box Pie

I always pay attention when someone says Buttermilk Pie, I have never had a slice of Buttermilk Pie that I didn't just love. This pie is very easy to put together and absolutely delicious. With a rich smooth filling and a hint of lemon this pie wakes up the taste buds of any dessert lover. Just put it in the refrigerator and serve it ice cold. It brings back old fashioned memories of taking this pie out of the ice box on Grandma's back porch. We love this special treat and sure hope you will enjoy it!

Garden Waffle with Italian Cheese Sauce

We love Waffle's and will often times have them for lunch or in the evening for a very informal supper. I wanted to create a waffle that could incorporate some of our wonderful garden vegetables.  This is a delicate blend of garden vegetables with a balsamic sauce with some fresh garden herbs.  While the crisp waffle is still hot we drizzle a delicious Italian Cheese Sauce on top.  This is a fabulous waffle that can be served on any occasion, my husband has already asked for it to be put on the menu again very soon.  I am very excited to present this new recipe to you today and sure hope you enjoy it!

Whats For Dinner Next Week 7-19-15

We are having an exciting time here at The Cottage, it's Grandma's Summer Camp with lots of activities and awesome summer food. It is always special to be able to spend time with family and make wonderful memories. Learning how to make a meal plan is part of camp this week, so the kids are actually helping me make this meal plan. Involving the kids with meal planning allows them to learn important life skills in planning, nutrition, marketing and food preparation.

Where The Greatest Cooks On The Planet Gather I am so excited to see you today and welcome to the party. We are so excited to be having Grandma's Summer Camp this week with some of our Grandchildren. We look forward to this little bright spot all year and all the fun and preparation of the camp, you can find a post about last years Summer Camp on my side bar, if you would like to see it. I hope that all of you are able to make some summer time memories with your family this summer. I can't wait to see what you are bring to share with us today, you'al bring the very best food in blog land.

Grandma's Creamed Peas and Potatoes

Going to the garden with my Grandma was a real experience, although we worked hard to tend the garden and gather the vegetables, she always had a wonderful story about the meal we were about to make with the incredible vegetables from the garden. When we would dig the baby new potatoes and gather the green peas, she would always tell me how her Mother, my Great Grandma would make a lovely cream sauce from the fresh cream and butter to pour over the new baby potatoes and fresh crisp peas. This is the recipe that has been passed down through our family through the years and it is so delicious, it taste just like my Grandma's from the garden to the table.

Watermelon Mint Salad

When I was a little girl I remember going to my Grandmother and Grandpa's farm in the summer for vacations. My Grandpa would sometimes take me to the watermelon patch on the farm and let me watch the farm helpers load the melons on the truck and then we would take them to the farmers market, it was so much fun, and that was the best watermelon ever. When I was making this watermelon salad for a party recently I thought of my Grandpa and all his wonderful watermelons. This is a fun, easy recipe, and one that everyone at the party loved.

Whats For Dinner Next Week 7-12-15

It's canning season here at the cottage, we have been canning salsa, come on in the kitchen with me and we will visit while the canning is going on. Most of our salsa is spoken for before we ever can it, but we have had a bummer crop of tomatoes and peppers this year so we are able to make more to make more folks happy including me and my husband. We will be making some jellies and jams with the fruit very soon. The kitchen is a very busy place when its canning season, so I always want to keep those activities in mind when making meal plans. What are some of the things that keep you kitchen busy in the summer? Lets get this menu on the board, its time for the next jars to come out of the cooker.

Full Plate Thursday 7-9-15

Where The Greatest Cooks On The Planet Gather We had a fun packed 4th of July weekend and now we are getting the cottage back to normal, (whatever that is today). We finally had enough tomatoes from the garden to make 17 jars of Salsa yesterday, those are all tagged for Christmas, except the one pint that we have in the refrigerator, it is so good. Yes I will post that recipe for you. Now I can't wait to hear and see what you have been making in your kitchens. I don't know about you, but I'm hungry lets get this party started!

Skillet Succotash

I just love a tasty Succotash, it is a great side dish or a stand along dish, just add a salad and of course some corn bread. I love to make a Succotash when the garden is filled with fresh vegetables and the blend of all the vegetables and fresh herbs just melt in your mouth. Although this recipe today is made with fresh vegetables from the garden it can be made when there is snow on the ground with frozen vegetables, or home canned vegetables from the summer harvest. We love this recipe and sure hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Grilled Sriracha Chicken

I love to discover a new flavor and try it in different recipes. One of the new flavors that we have been trying lately is Sriracha Sauce and we really like it. We have been spending a lot of time in our outdoor kitchen at the grill and this is one of the grill recipes that we have really enjoyed. This is a great marinade that could be used with any grilled meat but we love it with this chicken. This is a very simple recipe with very little prep time, the flavor heat in the recipe can be adjusted to suit your personal taste.

Whats For Dinner Next Week 7-5-15

We are having a fantastic 4th of July weekend celebration and hope you are enjoying your weekend. Looking forward to visiting with family and friends and having lots of great food. We will have a busy week coming up and hope to be doing a little canning, I am thinking of making some Blackberry Jam. We are getting lots of wonderful Blackberries this year. It is such a beautiful morning I am headed to the porch with my coffee to get inspired to make The Menu for next week.
