Fresh Garden Salsa

Every year when we are making our garden plan we make sure that we are planting all the ingredients for our homemade salsa. Salsa is a staple here at the cottage, it is on the table just about every meal. There is always a jar of salsa in the refrigerator and you will find several jars in the canning pantry. The recipe that I am sharing with you today is our Fresh Garden Salsa that we have perfected through the years and is one of our favorites. All of these products are available from a farmers market or a super market the year round, but they are the best from your very own garden.

Ingredients
8 very ripe Roma tomatoes, diced
1 yellow onion, diced
1 or 2 jalapeno peppers, diced (see recipe notes)
1/2 cup cilantro leaves
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1-1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon sugar
juice from 1 lime
Directions
Place the tomatoes, onion, jalapeno, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, salt, cumin, and sugar into the food processor. Pulse the processor until the salsa is the consistency you like. Place the cilantro leaves in the processor and pulse a couple of times, you don't want to break the cilantro up to much. Pour the salsa into your serving dish or a mixing bowl, squeeze the lime juice into the salsa and stir. Adjust your seasons and it is ready to serve.
Recipe Notes:
Jalapenos are to taste, if you like your salsa real hot then remove the membrane, but don't remove all the seeds. If you want it milder remove all the seeds and the membrane and use less jalapeno.
This salsa can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
Enjoy!

  7. I made it to go. It was great. I think for kids I would skip the jalapeno but for adults we like the spice.
