The Lemon Harvest Recipes & Tips: Tuesday Tips

The Lemon Harvest Recipes & Tips: Tuesday Tips at Miz Helen's Country Cottage
We recently had The Winter Lemon Harvest, which produced some great lemons. My friend had stopped by and ask what will you do with all those lemons? I told her I would not have any problem putting them to good use. I have some delicious recipes for my fresh lemons and a few other ideas for different uses. I will be very interested in your ideas and suggestions for fresh lemons.

Some Of Our Favorite Lemon Desserts

One of our families favorite pies is a Lemon Meringue, it will compliment any meal and is always a hit. Our large and small family gatherings always had one of these Lemon Meringue Pies on the dessert table. I am not really sure which family member originated this recipe, it has just been around since I started cooking and that's a very long time, lol.  I recently made this Lemon Meringue Pie for a very special family event and wanted to share it with you today, hope you like it.
A mile high meringue and a great lemon filling!
This is a wonderful full flavored bread with a hint of sweet and savory in an unusual combination.
We really enjoy this bread and hope you will to.

This cake is so moist and with a layer of creamy cheese and we top it with a wonderful mix of berries in a delicate glaze. Our Italian Lemon Cream Cake is a beautiful slice of cake on the serving dish, with the delicious berries on top.
This recipe has amazing flavor and it very easy to put together  and it serves up like you have been working on  a dessert all day!

Other Great Recipes With Fresh Lemons

I love walking out to my winter or summer garden and gathering some fresh kale for a nice salad. In this recipe I added some apples, pears and red onions, then topped it with a delicious lemon vinaigrette
and last we sprinkled it with toasted almonds.
This recipe has a great taste of lemon and fresh herbs that came straight out of my herb garden. I love to use this chicken in a special salad filled with fresh garden vegetables making this a true garden to table recipe.
I had some left over chicken from my Sheet Pan Lemon Herb Chicken and a basket of fresh greens from my garden that led to this delicious recipe. The salad has a base of delicious fresh greens and then we added some garden vegetables and the cold Lemon Herb Chicken. We topped it out with a delicious Feta Dressing that we have fell in love with. This is a great garden to table recipe
and can be served for lunch or dinner.

Just A Few Tips For Saving The Lemons
  • I like to place my lemons in a lovely basket and keep them on the counter If I am going to be using them within a few days.

  • If I refrigerate the lemons, they are placed in a large zip lock air tight container. They will stay fresh in the air tight container for several weeks. They will stay juicer and won't dry out so bad.

  • I like to juice some of the lemons and pour the juice into ice trays and freeze them. A frozen cube of the lemon juice is just perfect for some recipes that call for just a little lemon.

  • I like to place the  zest of  several lemons into a air tight container and freeze the zest. Just take out what you need for that recipe that calls for zest.
I have really enjoyed sharing my lemon recipes and tips with you today. I hope that you will find something here that will help you streamline and enjoy your food just a little more and a little longer!
