Old Fashioned Egg Custard Pie
When I think of Egg Custard, I think of pure comfort for the body and soul. The custard is smooth and silky with a wonderful fresh flavor and a hint of nutmeg. When I take my first bite of this pie, it takes me right back to my Grandmothers kitchen. It was always one of my favorites.

How To Make Old Fashioned
Egg Custard Pie
Prepare a refrigerator pie crust in a 9inch pie plate. Place a piece of parchment paper in the bottom of the crust. Then place the pie weights on top of the parchment paper. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and remove the parchment paper and pie weights. Return the pie crust to the oven and bake 3 more minutes. Remove the pie crust
to a cooling rack and let cool for 20 minutes.
vanilla extract, sugar, salt and nutmeg.
Pour the mixture into the
cooled pie crust. Reduce the heat in the oven to 325 degrees. Bake the pie for 50 to 55 minutes until the pie is set around the edges and a bit jiggly in the middle. Remove the pie to a cooling rack and cool for at least 1 hour before serving. Garnish with
whipped topping and seasonal fruit.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh, my word!!!! This is one of my favorite pies. I haven't had a piece in so long. I used to buy them at a bakery occasionally and then a gas station used to sell slices. I would treat myself to one occasionally. They stopped selling them. I do not know why I have never tried to make one myself. My memaw used to make them when I was young for holidays. I loved them.
