Background Story For Full Plate Thursday

When we were young and just starting out in life sometimes we did not have a lot of money. Most of our friends were having to stretch the dollars at the end of the month just like us. My girlfriends and I decided that we would pool our food for some of the evening meals right before payday... the last week of the week. I have some of the fondest memories from those days. We would all bring our food together and we had some great food and great fellowship. We would get the food on the table and everything ready, someone would bless the food and then the hostess would say "come fill your plate".

  1. The picture of you and the turkey always makes me smile, Miz Helen. You're so cute! Thanks so much for hosting. I'd love a serving of your pear crisp before I leave your cottage.

  2. Your turkey is just gorgeous Miz Helen! My husband, and now our son, always puts our turkey on the grill, so thank heaven I don't have to worry about that! I am thrilled to be featured on your full plate this week, and don't you love the beginning of the holiday season when everyone is thinking about delicious food! Thanks for the party and for hosting early next week!

  3. Hi Miz Helen! I'm earlier to the party this week as I'm in California, so in a better time zone! I hope you are having a good week. Your turkey is lovely - I'm getting excited for Thanksgiving. We are having a dinner with our American neighbour next weekend. (We fly home in a couple days.) I've shared my Quick and Easy Coq au Vin this week. Thank you so much for hosting, and have a lovely weekend!
