Fried Onion Hamburger Steak
I make meal plans each and every week and have been publishing Whats For Dinner Next Week now for almost 12 years. In the past couple of years I have been seeing more and more need to use more budget friendly recipes for beef as the price of beef has climbed to the highest I have ever seen it. My Fried Onion Hamburger Steak is a budget friendly recipe that is full of flavor. It has become one of our new favorites.

How To Make Fried Onion Hamburger Steak
(I am posting a black and white photo, so we don't have to look at raw meat.)
Mixing all the seasons, and the crushed fried onions with the
ground chuck. Divide 1 pound of the ground chuck and onion mix into four parts. Pat out 4 little steaks.
I like to use my iron skillet for these little steaks,
just place them in a very hot skillet and
let them sear on both sides,
then reduce the heat and place the lid on the skillet.
cream of mushroom soup with evaporated milk.
Divide the sauce mix into 4 parts and
pour 1 part on each little steak. Top with the remainder
of the fried onions.
Reduce the heat to low, place the lid on and
cook for a few more minutes.
Serve with a garnish of fresh parsley.

Fried Onion Hamburger Steak
This is a budget friendly delicious Hamburger Steak, easy to prepare and on the table in no time.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chuck
- 1 (6 ounce) container Crispy Fried Onions, divided
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ( 10.5 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup Evaporated Milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Place 1/2 of the fried onions into a zip lock bag and close the bag. Crush the onions into a medium crush.
- Place the ground chuck into a large mixing bowl, add the salt, pepper, garlic salt red pepper flakes, thyme and Worcestershire Sauce.
- Mix the meat and spice together, then add the crushed fried onions into the mix.
- Divide the hamburger and onion mix into four parts and pat each part into a little steak.
- Heat a heavy iron skillet to very hot. Place each steak into the skillet and let it sear for 2 minutes, until it will lift off the skillet without leaving meat behind. When you turn the steaks, reduce the heat to medium low and cook, for 8 minutes.
- In a small mixing bowl, mix the soup and the milk together. Divide into four parts and pour 1 part onto each steak. Place the butter in the bottom of the skillet. Place the remainder of the fried onion's on top of the sauce on each steak. Place the lid on the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes. Remove the lid and plate the steaks.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
