Full Plate Thursday 8-6-15

Where The Greatest Cooks On The Planet Gather

August is in full swing already and it looks to be a packed month. We just finished our Grandma's Summer Camp 2015, we had so much fun, and now the cottage is quiet again since everyone has gone back home to get ready for school starting. I went to the peach orchard with a friend and came back with some wonderful peaches that made great Ice Box Pickled Peaches, that I will share with you today. I always look forward to our party together to catch up on your news and share your amazing food. Let's get this party started!

Background Story For Full Plate Thursday
When we were young and just starting out in life sometimes we did not have a lot of money. Most of our friends were having to stretch the dollars at the end of the month just like us. My girlfriends and I decided that we would pool our food for some of the evening meals right before payday... the last week of the month. I have some of the fondest memories from those days. We would all bring our food together and we had some great food and great fellowship. We would get the food on the table and everything ready, someone would bless the food and then the hostess would say "come fill your plate".

  14. I remember the "old days" of combining food with friends & neighbors! Also, always hoping they had something wonderful to share. :) Made some of the most intriguing meals with lots of fun and laughter!

Thanks for hosting again! Seems that peaches are popular this week...your pickled ones look so good! I so hope you're staying cool ~ this heat & humidity are horrible. 108' coming up. Ugh!
