Cabbage, Sausage and Pasta Skillet

Cabbage and Sausage are a great combination of flavor and I added a little pasta to the skillet and a secret sauce to make it a great one pot meal.  There are some combinations that just work and we love this skillet of goodness with or without the pasta. This is a recipe that can be on your table in very little time to feed a hungry family. We have really enjoyed this recipe and sure hope you enjoy it!

We Start This Recipe With A
Fresh Head Of Cabbage

Add The Sausage Back To The Skillet

Add The Pasta and Secret Sauce

Miz Helen's Kitchen
1 pound Kielbasa, sliced in rounds
2 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
8 cups cabbage, chopped
3 cups cooked pasta
1 cup of the pasta water from cooking the pasta
2-1/2 cups V-8 Vegetable Juice
1-1/2 teaspoon thyme
2 teaspoons parsley
1/2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
2 cups Gruyere Cheese Shredded
Cook the pasta according to package directions.
Before you drain the pasta, retain one cup of the pasta water.
Drain the remainder of the pasta and set it aside.
In a very large skillet hot skillet, pour 2 tablespoons olive oil.
Stir in the Kielbasa rounds and quickly brown the Kielbasa.
Remove the Kielbasa from the skillet and set aside.
In the skillet where you browned the Kielbasa, stir in the onion and garlic.
Cook until the onion is clear.
Pour the cabbage on top of the onion and stir together.
Pour the pasta water over the cabbage and put the lid on the skillet.
Cook on medium heat until the cabbage is tender.
Add the Kielbasa and pasta to the skillet.
Add the V-8 Vegetable Juice and the thyme, parsley and red pepper flakes.
Stir the mixture to make sure it is  mixed well.
Put the lid on the skillet and simmer for 15 minutes.
Garnish with 2 cups of Gruyere  Cheese.
