Old Fashioned Baked Lasagna
It is my pleasure to share one of our favorites here at the cottage. This recipe was originally printed in my cookbook, Miz Helen's Kitchen Table.
The cookbook is no longer in print however I do share a recipe from the book here on the blog from time to time. The basic recipe was given to my Mother by our Italian neighbor. It has been passed through our family from generation to generation.

In a large stock pan or heavy Dutch oven brown the Italian Sausage and the ground chuck, then drain.
Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, and water, then mix well.
In a medium mixing bowl whisk the Ricotta Cheese, Cottage Cheese, Eggs and Mozzarella Cheese.Whisk in the seasons and mix well.
Spread some of the sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
Top the layer with a layer of the sauce.
Repeat the layers and top with the mixed Italian Cheese.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
Let set for 15 minutes before serving.
