It sure is a good snack for our family to enjoy any time. I can set a bowl of this mix on the bar top and it will disappear in no time. This snack mix is a great mix of sweet & spicy  seasons with crackers, pretzels, peanuts and cereal, baked in the oven to perfection

Heat the vinegar, butter, syrup with some seasons in a sauce pan bringing it to a boil. Then drizzle the liquid over the cereal mixture and mix really well.

Sweet & Spicy Snack Mix

Sweet & Spicy Snack Mix

Sweet & Spicy Snack Mix a blend of sweet sauce and spicy seasons, with cereal, crackers, peanuts and pretzels. A great snack for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
  • 3 cups corn Chex Cereal
  • 2 cups small pretzels
  • 2 cups cheddar crackers
  • 1 cup roasted unsalted peanuts
  • option: add 2 cups dried cranberries

Instructions

  1. In a small sauce pan, melt the butter then add the vinegar, salt, cayenne pepper, fresh thyme leaves and maple syrup.
  2. Heat the mixture on medium high stirring until it comes to a boil. 
  3. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. In a very large mixing bowl pour in the cereal, crackers, peanuts and pretzels. Mix together real well.
  5. Very slowly pour the syrup mixture over the cereal mixture, then mix really well.
  6. Place the snack mix on a large sheet pan.
  7. Bake at 275 degrees for 60 minutes. Stir the mix half way through the baking time.
  8. When the baking is complete, remove and place on a cooling rack until completely cooled.
  9. Poor into air tight containers and keep at room temperature for 2 weeks. or serve immediately.
