Honey Bun Cake

I love to serve a Honey Bun Cake for a brunch or coffee with friends, it just melts in your mouth. This recipe goes together quick and easy, making it a great go to recipe. The cake is marbled with a combination of sugar and spice, then topped with a delicious glaze. Garnished with some seasonal fruit, it is a delightful cake for any occasion.

Southern Sweet Corn Pudding

I remember having sweet corn pudding when I would visit my Grandmothers house in the summer. My Grandmother, Mother and several Aunts would gather on the back porch at my Grandmothers farm house and shuck corn from the garden and sometimes from the field. There were many corn recipes that I remember my Grandmother using for the corn, but one of my favorites was the sweet corn pudding.  It is a nice sweet custard with corn kernels nestled inside the cloudy custard. It has a very special flavor that only the corn can give it and a very special dessert! The recipe that I am using today has been adapted from my Grandmothers original recipe.

Pineapple Banana Freeze Dessert

Pineapple Banana Freeze Dessert is a cold refreshing dessert for any hot summer day. This 5 star dessert is created with only 3 ingredients and a little garnish, so easy to make and has become a hit here at the cottage. I have been keeping some of this recipe in my freezer to serve unexpected guest or just to have as a very special afternoon treat, it is a winner!

Old Fashioned Banana Pudding

When my Mother would buy a big batch of banana's at the store, I knew that she was about to make her banana pudding. Banana Pudding was one of my Dad's favorite desserts and I have to say my Mothers recipe is one that we have found to be our favorite through the years. This is a from scratch pudding and is thick and rich then we put a mile high meringue on top. This Old Fashioned Banana Pudding recipe is a very special treat for any occasion.

County Fair Funnel Cakes

It is that time of the year when we begin to think of the county and local fair's and festivals. I love going to all of these events and one of the main reasons I enjoy them so much is for the fun fair food. This year many of those events have been cancelled and we won't be able to enjoy those special fair treats like our Funnel Cakes. Instead we are enjoying our special treats right here at home. We had so much fun making these Funnel Cakes and even more fun eating them, they really are as good as the ones we get at the fair.

Blackberry Ice Cream Dessert

Our Blackberry bushes are giving us a great harvest this year so we enjoy using them in different recipes. I enjoyed developing this recipe for Blackberry Ice Cream Dessert and it is absolutely delicious. It has layers of cake and layers of ice cream with a special swirl of blackberries. This dessert is very special and can be served for an informal occasion or a formal dinner. This is truly a garden to dessert recipe!

Nutty Cranberry Pumpkin Poke Cake

Just a few of my friends dropping over this evening for a Grateful Gathering. I am serving this delicious Nutty Cranberry Pumpkin Poke Cake. It is a new recipe and sure hope that they like it. I often times test my new recipes on my Gathering Group, what better way to have a true taste test. I will let you know what they think at the end of the post.

Very Berry Ice Cream

Ice Cream Ice Cream We All Scream For Ice Cream! That is sure the chant that goes up from some of our family. As a matter of fact my husband's nick name is "Blue Bell Man" he has to have his Ice Cream for his special treat everyday. This is a very special berry filled ice cream, that our entire family enjoys. This recipe is so easy and takes no time and it is in the freezer, it is sure worth the wait while it freezes!

Old Fashioned Strawberry Pudding

I love the comfort that most old fashioned desserts bring. This Old Fashioned Strawberry Pudding recipe traces back in our family to one of my great Aunts. I really enjoy finding the root of the recipe in our family so that as I pass it down to my family members they will know exactly where it came from. Of course we have added to and changed the recipe as time has gone along and tried to bring it into the society that we live in today which means it is easy! This recipe will go together real fast and will be delicious and very comforting!

Irish Brown Bread Pudding

The Irish make wonderful soda and brown breads and like many others they will gather up the old stale bread and made a lovely dessert. Often times it is a bread pudding, that is filled with not only the wonderful spice from the bread but put into a custard with some lovely sauce and then they serve you the most delicious dessert, from the left over bread. Our Irish Brown Bread Pudding is a recipe that uses the day or two old brown bread, then soaked in a custard base and baked. After it cools just a bit it is cover with a very rich sauce and later served with the sauce on the side. Oh my goodness this is a very special treat that I am proud to serve my family and friends and share with you today.

Pear-Cranberry Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce

We love bread pudding, it is always so comforting and full of flavor. I made this bread pudding with some of the pears that my neighbor gave me, those pears are so delicious. I added some dried cranberries and pecans then drizzled some caramel sauce to finish the dessert. This one sure didn't last long, next time I will make a bigger one to enjoy a little longer. I love recipes that just happen, sometimes they are the very best!

Cranberry-Pretzel Dessert

My original recipe for this dessert is very old and the card is yellowed, we have made it for many years. Some of my friends make a recipe that is very similar and they call their recipe a salad, but to us it has always been dessert. It has layer's of flavors starting with a salty base then a creamy sweet layer and ending with a tart cranberry topping. This is a great dessert to serve anytime but is especially great for holiday meals and events. Take it to your covered dish dinners, luncheons, and then it is perfect for that special family gathering.

Mandarin Surprise Dessert

My husband loves Mandarin Oranges and consider's them a treat. He will put them on top of his nightly bowl of Blue Bell, they appear on his dinner plate and a side for breakfast. I wanted to make a special little dessert for him to surprise him with his favorite Mandarin Oranges. This is a very simple dessert that will be a great treat for a special husband or great individual desserts for a group of friends.

Strawberry Dessert Chalupa

I wanted to create a new Tex Mex dessert for some upcoming Mexican themed parties. Of course my official taster is my husband and he says this is his new favorite and I agree, it is delicious. This is a recipe that you can prepare all the ingredients ahead of time then put it together right before you serve. These flavors are amazing with a creamy filling and a crunchy base, to serve one or a crowd.

Red Velvet Surprise

Our Red Velvet Surprise is a great dessert to serve for any occasion. This is a really pretty dessert and taste every bit as good as it looks. I made the recipe today for a very special friend who was celebrating a birthday. I am glad that my photo's were made because there wasn't one single slice left. This dessert is made with layers of flavor that will offer a surprise as you take your first bite.

Retro Strawberry Ice Box Dessert

This was a very popular dessert in the late 50's and early 60's in my circle of friends. It was a favorite at the Bridge Club luncheons, Junior League meetings, back yard bar-b-ques and family dinners. Still to this day one of my friends or a family member will ask about the Strawberry Ice Box Dessert and I am just so happy to make it, because once it is on my dessert plate I can't wait to enjoy this delicious dessert.

Mixed Berry Pavlova

When I think of a Pavlova dessert, I imagine a very delicate dessert that will be a ladies delight. I have made this dessert for many of my lady friends but my guys love it every bit as much as they do. The Pavlova is such a wonderful dessert cup for any number of fillings, but the one we like the best is just a simple mix of berries in a nice sugar glaze. When my husband found out I was making this dessert, the last thing he said before going to work was be sure and save me a couple of those little desserts, well of course I did.

Pistachio Parfait

My husband loves a Pistachio dessert and this Pistachio Parfait is one of his favorites. I enjoy taking the dessert to pot luck dinners or serving it for friends and family. I recently made the dessert and had to take my photo's in a hurry, folks were standing and waiting for the dessert to be served. This is a great dessert that is so easy to make. If you make it a day in advance of the event it is even better. This Pistachio Parfait never last long here at the cottage.

Cinnamon Skillet Apples

I really enjoy going to the local orchards to pick fresh fruit or to stop by the farmers market to get the seasonal fruits. The other day when I was at the Farmers Market they had the most beautiful apples and I couldn't resist bringing some home. We love a real simple dessert sometimes that you can pair with some ice cream or just a simple cookie. Cinnamon Skillet Apples is a very simple recipe and very easy to make.We just love this dessert and hope you will to.

Fresh Peach Icebox Dessert

The farmers market is peach heaven right now, when you walk by the peach stands you can just smell the wonderful flavors of the fresh peaches. I love the vendors that are standing at their booth giving samples of the ripe juicy fruit. We are making a great dessert with our fresh peaches today, that is easy to put together and full of rich flavors. This is a great way to serve a cool refreshing dessert that is fresh from the farmers market.
