As I begin to make the last meal plan for this year I have to reflect back over the many wonderful meals that we have shared together. All your notes of support, thanks and encouragement mean so much to me. My hope in sharing these meal plans with you and your family is somehow to encourage and inspire you in your own meal plans while here and there we share a new recipe along the way. We sure have been busy here in the Cottage kitchen, it is canning season. The real hot weather is coming fast so we are trying to harvest as many of our vegetables as we can before we loose them to the heat. The kitchen is a busy place, so when we are making our meal plan we want recipes to use garden vegetables and won't take very much time to prepare. This is a fun time of the year to make meal plans, so let's get to it.

For our meal plans this time of the year we are looking for recipes that are garden fresh, packed with flavor and easy. I sure don't want to spend the whole day in the kitchen when there are so many fun summer time activities to enjoy. This week I have a new tomato recipe from the garden on the menu that has turned out to be one of our summer time favorites.

Come on out to the garden with me I am gathering some fresh vegetables for our special recipe today. We will also be planning our meal plan for the week and with the looks of these wonderful garden vegetables we will have some on our plate this week. Our family just loves fresh vegetables and I am very happy about that because they are sure plentiful in the garden this year.

A Weekly Family Friendly Meal Plan With Recipes We are here in the middle of October with some record temperatures, we actually are still in the 80's and 90's some day's.It has given us a little extra time to get ready for the cold weather months that will come. I recently cleaned out the freezer and updated my inventory list. This gives me the opportunity to know exactly what I have on hand without digging in a cold freezer for something that isn't there. Although we are having warm weather my taste is still for fall when I am making my meal plan for the week.

August Has Arrived! August is here and it is hard to believe in our part of Texas that we have had a very mild summer so far. We just last week hit our 100 degree temperature's and its already cooler with rain, we love it! The summer garden has almost stopped producing and it will soon be time to plant for fall. I will be finishing up my canning this week. I am trying to use up all the peaches before they are gone for the season. Those awesome Peach Cobbler Cupcakes are on the menu this week!

What a great week we had last week, lots of fun times around my birthday, my friends surprised me with a day trip to a fantastic new shopping market in a near by city. We had so much fun and I am so excited about finding a new market place, without having to drive so far into the metro. The garden vegetables abound and I am using lots of fresh vegetables in my menu this week, plus we will be in the outdoor kitchen grilling. We are having an exciting time here at The Cottage, it's Grandma's Summer Camp with lots of activities and awesome summer food. It is always special to be able to spend time with family and make wonderful memories. Learning how to make a meal plan is part of camp this week, so the kids are actually helping me make this meal plan. Involving the kids with meal planning allows them to learn important life skills in planning, nutrition, marketing and food preparation.

June The first week of June has been fantastic, we have been able to be in the garden and spend time in our outdoor kitchen.  We are going to enjoy this chicken as long as we can, I am putting them in the freezer, because of the flu that has wiped out the chicken production for a while.  Our neighbor has some but will not have enough for a while, we like getting our eggs from the neighbor's.  Our Farmers Market is in full swing with lots of Fruits and Vegetables. It's a fun time to make a meal plan.

We have been busy here at the cottage this week. I am so glad that you could take a drive to the country today it is always good to see you. Come take a walk with me out to the row crop area in the garden and we will take a look at the area that we have prepared to plant the onions, we will be planting them any day. I made Cranberry Breakfast Cookies for us this morning, so we will have some Breakfast Cookies and Hot Tea when we finish our walk and take a look at The Menu for next week.
