We Start The Recipe By Trimming The Ham

There are many brands of Spiral Cut Ham and I do have favorites, but usually I come home from the market with the one that is on sale. I bought the one I am cooking today on sale an 8.95 pound ham for only $8.58 and that is a great price for our area. In order to fit the ham into a 7 quart slow cooker, we removed the hock end of the ham. I just use my husbands little saw and saw it right off, if you don't have a little saw, your butcher will  be happy to remove it for you. Then I freeze the hock end of the ham and it is ready for a delicious ham and beans.

  1. This looks sooooo good! I use my slow cooker for ham and almost always use pineapple juice. Your addition of maple syrup sounds so good.... but I don't see where/ when it is added to the mixture. Does it go in the pot with everything else to cook, or do you pour the cooked mixture over and then add/ drizzle the maple syrup?? Thanks!!!!
