I love to serve a Honey Bun Cake for a brunch or coffee with friends, it just melts in your mouth. This recipe goes together quick and easy, making it a great go to recipe. The cake is marbled with a combination of sugar and spice, then topped with a delicious glaze. Garnished with some seasonal fruit, it is a delightful cake for any occasion.

How To Make A Honey Bun Cake

We mix the dry ingredients along with
 the wet ingredients all in one bowl.

Mix the batter until it is completely smooth.

Using a baking oil and flour, prepare a
 9 X 13 baking dish and pour one-half 
of the batter into the prepared dish.

Next we will layer the brown sugar and spice
 on top of the bottom layer.

Last we will pour the remainder of the batter very carefully over the brown sugar and spice layer.

With a butter knife swirl the batter
 all the way through all 3 layers.

Bake then remove from the oven to a cooling rack.

The thick glaze needs to go on the cake 
quick while it is still hot.

Honey Bun Cake

Honey Bun Cake

Honey Bun Cake is a delicious brunch or coffee cake that make a great dessert for any occasion. Quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 ( 15.25 ounce) box of yellow cake mix
  • 1 (8 ounce) tub of sour cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4  cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Baking Spray
  • Fresh Seasonal Fruit For Garnish
  • For The Glaze
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon  vanilla

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix the cake mix, eggs, oil, and sour cream. Mix until the batter is completely smooth.
  2. Spray a 9X13 baking dish with a baking spray.
  3. Pour 1/2 of the batter into the prepared baking dish and set aside.
  4. In a small bowl blend together the brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg until completely blended.
  5. Very carefully sprinkle the brown sugar on top of the batter in the baking dish.
  6. Pour the remainder of the batter on top of the brown sugar layer.
  7. With a butter knife swirl through all three layers.
  8. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes, and the center will test done.
  9. For The Glaze
  10. In a medium bowl mix the powered sugar, vanilla, and milk. Mix until the glaze is smooth.
  11. Glaze the cake while it is hot.
  12. Garnish with seasonal fruit, if desired.
