Retro Kitchen Stool

When I was a young girl in high school our kitchen step stool sat right under the telephone that hung on the wall. Like many other teens in that time I would sit for long periods of time on the kitchen step stool while talking on the phone. Many long years later, we had to relocate my Mother to a senior community and we put all of the household goods in storage. When Mother passed away and we began to go through the household goods. The kitchen step stool was one of the items that I would not part with. It was beat up and battered, but held so many memories for me.

Let The Work Begin

As time went by we had the stool in our barn and I would sit on it to help with projects, my husband had cautioned me about using the steps, as he really didn't trust the steps that were in bad repair.

Last year my husband surprised me when he told me that he was going to restore my precious kitchen stool for me, I was so excited.

He began his project with taking it all apart and then sanding and cleaning every working part.

Each single little piece was repaired, cleaned and sanded. When he got it to this point he said I couldn't peak at it again until the surprise was finished.

It was a very special day when he brought it into my kitchen and sat it under the very telephone that I had talked on when I was that young girl in high school.

There it was sitting there looking all shiny and new with the phone receiver hanging on the back of the stool just waiting for me to come to the phone, as it was so many times when one of my parents would call me to the phone.

When we sold my parents home, the dial phone was still working and still has the phone number sticker on the front of the phone. We bought the phone from the local phone company and it hangs in my kitchen today and now has a very nice retro kitchen stool sitting right under it.
